About The Beckoning: The Beckoning in non specific terms is a painting about desire. It is a visual portrayal of a man and woman disregarding conscious thought and instead allowing their basic instincts to guide their actions with out questioning or second guessing them. The man draws the woman in and she gives herself to him without regret or hesitation, disregarding the countless reasons why she should stop the situation from occurring. The world around them fades out of existence as they come together, living for the moment in one another's embrace.

About Distance: The title for Distance is very literal. It is a painting about growing apart, feeling cut off, alone. It is about the feeling of being able to sit right next to a person and yet feeling as if you are worlds apart.

Resurrection" is my depiction of the biblical scene known as the raising of Lazarus where Christ resurrects one of his faithful patrons from the dead. This painting is commonly seen done in classical styles but I thought that it was about time that it was recreated in a more modern format. I use different colors as a representation of life and death and used a very loose stroke combined with degrees of shading to create focal points in the painting. The figure in the center with his hands laid upon the dead man (Lazarus) is Jesus and to the left and right of him are apostles and witnesses of the miracle.

About Departure: Departure is an expressionist work about separation. The painting is done in blue, black and white oil paints. In Departure, (as with many of my works) I use a good deal of semi exposed canvas to represent such things as void, passing of time, the past, distance and emptiness.

About The Drunk 2: In "The Drunk #2" I addresses the issue of alcoholism and the toll that it takes on a man over time. The painting emphasizes the bitter depression of a person who has turned to alcohol for temporary relief from his relentless sorrow. As is common with many of many of my works, I try to utilizes strong contrasts of abstract color in this painting to depict emotion and mood. The black despondent eyes of the man sitting at the table mirrors the color of the shadow of death that has wrapped its arm around the neck of the man. The man sits exposed and fragile; he longs for permanent relief from his depression as he allows death to embrace him while putting up no struggle. As is typical with many expressionist artists, I sometimes paint about mankind’s darker emotions since those are sometimes are very strongest and most memorable.
